KeyCue 2.0 delivers "Universal" Shortcut Productivity

Hagenberg, Austria: January 31, 2006 — Ergonis Software® today released KeyCue™ 2.0 as a Universal Binary application that runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. The release of the shortcut productivity software also includes many new features.

Christoph Reichenberger, founder and CEO of Ergonis Software, says that his company is responding quickly to Apple’s call for Mac software providers to build their products using the new Universal Binary format. He explained, “Many of our customers will move quickly to Apple’s new Intel-based platform because of its dramatic performance increases, while other customers will wait to recoup their investment in existing equipment. Rapid delivery of Universal Binary versions of our products will enable our customers to make the transition at their own pace.”

KeyCue greatly increases user productivity by improving the visibility and usability of shortcut keys. The productivity paradox of shortcut keys is that while shortcut keys were designed to increase productivity, the more keys that are defined in an application, especially when they are defined inconsistently across applications, the less productivity gains are realized. KeyCue’s elegantly simple solution is to detect and display an instant overview of the overall functionality of any application.

KeyCue 2.0 adds many new features, including the ability to:

  • Detect and display shortcut keys that include special keys (such as arrow keys)
  • Detect and display shortcuts installed by MenuMaster
  • Swap the order of menu commands and their shortcuts
  • Include or exclude shortcuts from the Apple Menu

Additional improvements in KeyCue 2.0 include:

  • Shortcut tables now display even faster
  • Shortcut tables are more readable
  • All items in applications services submenu are now detected and displayed

KeyCue 2.0 is the first of several Universal Binary products scheduled for release in the coming months. Also in development are Universal Binary versions of PopChar™X, the productivity software for use of special characters and fonts and Typinator™, the productivity software for automating the entry of repetitive text and graphics.
