Typinator 8.3 meets Apple's tightened security requirements

Perg, Austria - January 7, 2020: Ergonis Software today released Typinator 8.3, an improved version of their highly acclaimed text expander.

Starting with February 2020, Apple once again strengthens the requirements for third-party apps, with an intention to ensure the security of end users. The new policies require developers to submit their apps to Apple to go through a notarizing security process, designed to ensure downloaded software is from the source users believe it is from. Notarized apps are also scanned automatically by Apple for security issues and malicious code. Typinator 8.3 complies with all the increased security requirements and will continue to be a first-class citizen on macOS Catalina.

The new version also brings a number of improvements and fixes that make Typinator 8 more comfortable to use. It supports the Shuangpin input methods for Chinese and works around a problem with Catalina's automatic dark mode, where Typinator's menu icon was not correctly updated after an automatic light/dark change.

Typinator 8.3 also remembers and restores the width of the abbreviation column, fixes a problem where pictures were cut off or blank in the Quick Search results, and more. Visit Ergonis Software's website to learn more about the changes in this release and to download and try the new version.

Typinator is a powerful, yet elegantly simple solution that boosts your productivity by automating the process of inserting frequently used text and auto-correcting typing errors. Across all applications, it detects specific sequences of typed characters and automatically replaces them with text snippets, graphics, URLs, dates and special characters.

Along with the new Typinator version, Ergonis Software also released PopChar X 8.9 and KeyCue 9.7, which now also comply with Apple's new security requirements.

Availability and Ordering

Typinator 8.3 requires OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) or newer and is recommended for macOS Catalina (10.15).

Typinator can be purchased securely on the Ergonis Software website. The upgrade to Typinator 8.3 is free for anyone who purchased a license for Typinator on or after January 1st, 2019. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For information about purchases, including enterprise licenses, volume discounts, and upgrade pricing offers, see the company's web site.
