PopChar Pro is now distributed by ergonis software as part of the macility software collection. The software and the documentation has beed updated to reflect this change.

PopChar Pro 1.5 requires a new license key. The new key is valid for both PopChar Pro and the new Mac OS X product PopChar X. Click here for details about how to upgrade an existing license.

PopChar Pro caused problems in the Classic environment under Mac OS X. It now disables itself when the Classic environment starts up, but continues to work when you use the same system to boot into Mac OS 9. To use PopChar under Mac OS X (for both native and Classic applications), you can now use PopChar X.

MacOS 9.2 compatibility

Opening the PopChar Pro menu under Mac OS 9.2 (and 9.2.1) sometimes caused a crash.

When a font file was open in the Finder, PopChar Pro didn't show that font.

Display of the PopChar Pro menu has been accelerated.

Clicking PopChar Pro's floating window while a pop-up menu was open caused the current application to hang.

PopChar Pro didn't insert selected characters when Window Monkey was also installed
under Mac OS 9.1.

The keyboard equivalents and the ordinal number displayed in the PopChar Pro menu were not properly redrawn when certain Kaleidoscope schemes were used.

The characters in the PopChar Pro menu sometimes appeared in a very small size after using the Layout Editor.

When selecting "Remove..." in the Layout Editor, the list now shows only those layouts that can be removed. A warning messages explains what happens when removing a layout that overrides a built-in layout.

Fixed a printing error in the Layout Editor.

Clicking the status bar in the Layout Editor disabled the frontmost window.

New built-in layouts for a few symbol fonts: Mobile, MT Extra,Webdings, Wingdings, Wizardry and Zed.

The character arrangement in the "Letters In Groups" layout has been improved.

Added the Euro sign to the built-in layout for the Symbol font.
