easy beat v 2.2.1 (August 2005) - Changes since v 2.2:

Problems fixed:

Fixed a crash when attempting to print on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).

Fixed compatibility problems with Default Folder and Menu Master.

Fixed a problem that caused crashes during startup on some system configurations.

Fixed a problem that reduced the volume of tracks with low reverb settings.


easy beat v 2.2 (June 2005) - Changes since v 2.1:

Additional instrument descriptions for some popular synthesizers.

Other improvements:

Improved readability of notes in the score view.

Problems fixed:

Adds compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).

Pan settings are now correctly exported to GarageBand.

All tracks had a certain amount of reverb that could not be turned off.


easy beat v 2.1 (May 2004) - Changes since v 2.0:

New Features:

Garageband export: easy beat can now export song tracks for drag&drop import into GarageBand.

Other improvements:

Internal changes to handling of user input result in improved responsiveness.

Problems fixed:

Auto-repeat (when keeping a key pressed) did not work as expected.

Items in the "MIDI Input" submenu appeared with check marks even though they were actually turned off.

In some cases, easy beat displayed an irritating error message in the "Recording Options" dialog and refused to accept the changes.

Scroll wheel support did not work on some Macs.
When a dialog window was open, the menu bar was not updated correctly, and menus appeared dimmed after closing the dialog.
The information shown in the Inspector window sometimes was not updated correctly.
Alert windows are now positioned correctly.
Fixed misaligned labels in track sidebars.


easy beat v 2.0 (March 2004) - Changes since v 1.5:

New and improved Features:

easy beat 2.0 runs on (and requires) Mac OS X.

easy beat 2.0 uses the CoreAudio and CoreMIDI foundation of Mac OS X for playing songs.
easy beat automatically recognizes all attached MIDI ports and displays all available MIDI Out ports in the Synthesizer submenu.
A new "MIDI Input" menu lists all available MIDI In ports. If multiple MIDI instruments are attached, it is now possible to select the instrument(s) to be used for recording.
Some menu commands and other keyboard shortcuts have changed to match Apple’s recommendations and guidelines for Mac OS X.
easy beat now displays a progress dialog when exporting a song as an AIFF file.
Scroll wheel support.
Live window resizing.

   

The velocity slider now appears slightly to the right of the selected note and can be used in sticky mode , similar to pop-up menus. When a multi-button mouse is used, the right mouse button displays the velocity slider.

The "Instrument Number" dialog now contains a "Drum Kit" checkbox to specify that an instrument should be played on the MIDI channel 10.
The status bar below the menu bar has been replaced with a status area at the bottom of the song window.

The guitar tuner and the MIDI file search feature have been removed. MIDI file search may return in a different form in a future release of easy beat.

Many internal changes and adaptations of the visual appearance.


easy beat v 1.5 (May 2002) - Changes since v 1.3.2:

Organizational Change:

easy beat is now distributed by ergonis software as part of the macility software collection. The software and the documentation has beed updated to reflect this change.

easy beat 1.5 requires a new license key. The upgrade is free for all owners of previous versions of easy beat.

New Features:

easy beat is ready for QuickTime 6.

Problems fixed:

Volume controller changes were not exported when a song was saved as a QuickTime movie.

The Internet MIDI search function was adapted: Scour no longer works and was removed, other search engines have been added, and the search protocols for all search engines have been updated.

The "External Synthesizer" menu item did not work when OMS of FreeMIDI was not installed. The menu item is now disabled when no external synthesizer is available.


easy beat v 1.3.2 (November 2001) - Changes since v 1.3.1:

Problems fixed:

Global changes to the controller types (with the option key) made the tempo view inaccessible.

easy beat's self-test sometimes caused false alerts on 68k Macs.

easy beat v 1.3 (July 2001) - Changes since v 1.2.1:

New Features:

There is a new global tempo controller view that can be used to define tempo variations over a song. All changes made in this view are relative to the "nominal tempo", as specified in the tempo field.

easy beat now displays the playing position while playing selected notes.
View types can now be switched with a pop-up menu in the individual track headers.

The Metronome track is now called the "Master" track and has two possible views: One is the usual metronome view, the other is the new tempo view.

Problems fixed:

easy beat sometimes issued a false virus alert.

While a selection was playing, playback could not be stopped.
